Box Score Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Tigerville, SC to take on North Greenville University in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a quick start and controlled the pace of the game in all four periods. The Lions brought home a win, 23-11. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-3 on the season, 2-3 in conference.
The Lions got off to a quick start in the first period.
Lauren Kuschel got the scoring started for the Lions scoring the first goal of the game with 13:39 to play in the first. She netted her second goal of the game only two minutes later, to make it 2-0 Lions. Twenty seconds later, Kuschel scored a third time to give the Lions a 3-0 advantage with 11:10 to play in the first. Freshman,
Demi Czynski got into the action next, netting a goal with 9:34 to play in the period. Czynski added onto the Lions lead with her second goal of the game, assisted by
Paige Murphy, with 9:08 to play in the period to give the Lions a 5-0 lead. The Crusaders would score the next three goals, to cut the Lions lead to 5-3 with 6:37 to play in the first. The Lions would answer back to close out the period.
Meghan Jennings scored a goal with 3:07 to play in the period to give the Lions a 6-3 lead and
Kristie Fisher would score with 1:48 to play to make it 7-3 at the end of the first.
In the second period, Kuschel would score her fourth of the game to get things started with 13:19 to play, assisted by Murphy to make it 8-3. North Greenville would add a goal to make it 8-4 with 12:13 to play, but
Ashley Mercker would answer back with 9:49 to play in the period to help the Lions go up 9-4. The Crusaders made it 9-5 with 6:48 to go, but Emmanuel would close out the second period strong.
Paige Murphy would get into the action, scoring her first goal with 4:52 to play in the 2
nd. She followed that up with her second goal of the game 40 seconds later to help the Lions go up 11-5.
Mikaela Austin closed out the period with a goal, assisted by Fisher with 24 seconds to go, to give the Lions a 12-5 lead.
In the third period, the Crusaders got the scoring started with 14:09 to play with a goal to make it 12-6. The Lions responded quickly, with Murphy scoring her third of the night with 9:33 to play in the period, to go up 13-6. North Greenville would score the next two, to bring the Crusaders within five, 13-8. The Lions responded quickly, with Fisher netting a goal with 5:18 to play, assisted by Austin to make it 14-8. Murphy added a goal, assisted by Kushel with 4:46 to play to help the Lions go up 15-8. The Crusaders made it 15-9 with 2:00 to go in the period, but the Lions closed out the period with a goal by Murphy, assisted by Jennings, with 40 seconds to play to make it 16-9.
In the final period of play, the Lions got things started with a goal by Czynski with 14:07 to play to give the Lions a 17-9 lead. The Crusaders made it 17-10 with 12:44 to play. The Lions responded strong, with a goal by Jennings with 12:07 to go, to make it 18-10. Murphy would net another goal with 11:34 to go to give the Lions a 19-10 lead. Jennings found the net again, assisted by Murphy to make it 20-10, Lions with 10:54 to play. Murphy would tack on her seventh goal of the night with 6:46 to play to give the Lions a 21-10 lead. NGU would score a goal with 4:44 to play to make it 21-11, but the Lions responded. Kuschel would net the final two goals for the Lions, the first with 2:55 to play, assisted by Murphy and the second with just three seconds to play, to give the Lions a 23-11 victory.
