Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Young Harris, GA today to face the #1 seed, Young Harris College in the Conference Carolinas Semifinals. The Mountain Lions jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and led 12-6 at the half. The Lions rallied to close the gap, but the Mountain Lions took the game, 20-13 to move onto the Conference Carolinas Championship game. With the loss, the Lions end the season with an overall record of 9-8, 5-4 in conference play.
The Mountain Lions got on the board first, with two early goals to go up 2-0.
Demi Czynski responded with a goal at the 11:12 mark, assisted by Paetyn Hoffman to cut the Young Harris lead to 2-1, but Young Harris answered seconds later to push ahead 3-1. Czynski grabbed her second goal of the game with 9:48 to play in the period to close the gap to 3-2, Young Harris but the Mountain Lions ended the period with a 4-0 run to take a 7-2 lead heading into the 2
nd.
Young Harris continued to control the pace of the game early in the 2
ndperiod, scoring two quick goals to push their lead to 9-2. Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year,
Olivia Wallach answered with a score at the 12:44 mark, assisted by Lexie Lee to make it 9-3, Young Harris. The Mountain Lions scored the next three goals to pull ahead, 12-3, but the Lions closed the half out on a 3-0 run. Czynski scored twice with three minutes left in the half to cut the Young Harris lead to 12-5, and Lee grabbed a goal with 34 seconds remaining in the period to make the score 12-6 at the half.
The Lions carried their momentum into the 3
rd period, striking first with Czynski finding the net for the 5
th time today, assisted by
Meghan Jennings to make it 12-7, Young Harris. Young Harris responded with a score to make it 13-7, but
Taylor Schubert answered with a goal at the 6:45 mark to cut the Mountain Lions lead to 13-8. Young Harris closed the period on a 2-0 run to pull ahead 15-8, heading into the 4
th.
Jennings grabbed her first goal of the day early in the 4
th to make it 15-9, but Young Harris added a goal to their lead a minute later, making the score 16-9. Czynski made it 16-10 with 10:11 to play, scoring her career high 6
th goal, but the Mountain Lions answered with 2-0 run to take a 18-10 lead. Czynski made it 18-11 with 7:27 to play on her career high 7
th goal of the day, but the Mountain Lions grabbed the next two to pull ahead 20-11 with 5:45 to play. The Lions rallied late with a 2-0 run, with Schubert and Wallach finding the net to make the final score, 20-13.
Demi Czynski was a bright spot for the Lions with a career high 7 goals on the day. She took 11 shots in the game, with 10 being on goal. Four Lions picked up an assist in the game, with four Lions picking up 2 ground balls each.
Avery Atkins led the Lions in goal with 7 saves, while
Emily Dawson added 6.
