Box Score 3 WILSON, NC - The Emmanuel Baseball team traveled to Wilson, NC to take on Barton College in Conference Carolinas play. The Bulldogs got the best of the Lions in game one of the three game series taking the win, 7-4 before defeating Emmanuel 13-0 in game two. The Lions bounced back with a 6-3 win in game three to drop the series 2-1. The Lions fall to 11-9 on the season, 1-5 in conference play.

GAME ONE –Â
Â
The Lions struck first in the top of the second.
Brody Campbell started things off with a double to left center.
Nick Dietsch singled to left to advance Campbell to third.
Ryan Muniz high a sacrifice fly to right field to score Campbell and give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs answered back in the bottom half of the inning scoring three runs on two errors, leaving one runner on base to take a 3-1 lead.

The Lions responded well in the top of the third.
Bailey Stroud singled to the pitcher to start off the inning.
Cooper Tomkinson kept things going with a single to right field and Stroud advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Thomas Collins followed that up with a double to left center to score Stroud, making it 3-2, Bulldogs. Â
Brock Wollin kept the momentum going for Emmanuel with a single to left to score Stroud that tied things up at 3-3. The Lions took a 4-3 lead on a sacrifice fly by Campbell that scored Collins. In the bottom half of the inning, the Bulldogs tied things up at 4-4, scoring one run on two hits, leaving two runners on base.Â

After nothing going for the Lions in the top of the fourth, the Bulldogs bats got back in action in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs on two hits and one error to take a 7-4 lead, which would be the final score.

At the plate,
Brody Campbell and
Jesus Cruz went 2-3.
Â
On the mound,
Ethan Pooler got the nod and went three innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on three hits.
Barrett Barkley relieved him and pitched 2.2 innings. He gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked two and struck out three.
Simon Boggie closed the game out for the Lions, pitching 2.1 innings. He didn't give up a hit and forced five hitters in to a ground out.Â

GAME TWO –
Â
In game two, the Bulldogs bats were on fire as Barton shut out the Lions 13-0.Â
Â
Barton got things started in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on three hits and one error, leaving one on base to make it 3-0 Barton.

The Bulldogs added to their lead in the bottom of the 2
nd, with two runs on two hits and an error, leaving the bases loaded to make it 5-0.
Â
Barton made it 6-0 in the third, scoring one run on a hit, leaving three on base.
Â
In the bottom of the 5
th, the Bulldogs opened things up scoring five runs on five hits and two errors, leaving two on base to make it 11-0.
Â
The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the 6
th on three hits, leaving one on base to make the final score 13-0.

At the plate,
Hayden Beall went 1-1 and
Bailey Stroud went 1-2.Â
Â
On the mound,
Colby Fields got the start and went 1.2 innings. He gave up five runs on four hits, striking out one and walking two.
Chase Lupton relieved him to face three batters in the third inning. He gave up one run on two hits and walked two.
Bubba Luke came in next, pitching two innings. He gave up one hit and struck out one.
Hunter Maddox faced six batters and gave up five runs (two earned) on four hits.
Zakk Gibbons came in next and gave up one hit and struck out two in an inning of work.
Ashton Sapp closed the game out for the Lions giving up two runs on three hits.Â

The Lions will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow morning at 9:30AM.

GAME THREE –
Â
The Lions bounced back in game three with a 6-3 victory on Monday morning. Â
Â
Barton got on the board first with a run scored on two hits in the bottom of the 1
st inning.Â
Â
The score stayed that way until the top of the 7
th. After
Nick Dietsch was hit by a pitch,
Cooper Tomkinson reached on a bunt to advance Dietsch to second.
Ryan Muniz reached on an error by the pitcher and advanced to second on a throw that scored Dietsch to tie things up 1-1.
Dobbs Bowden followed that up with a single to center to score Muniz and Tomkinson and give the Lions a 3-1 advantage.
Bailey Stroud got into the action with a bunt and advanced to second on the throw.
Jesus Cruz kept the momentum going for Emmanuel with a double that scored Stroud and Bowden, giving the Lions a 5-1 lead.Â

The Lions added to their lead in the top of the 9
th.
Thomas Collins reached base on an error, advancing to second on a passed ball.
Brock Wollin singled to center to score Collins and make it 6-1, Lions.

The Bulldogs made some noise in the bottom of the 9
th, scoring two runs on two hits and two errors, but the Lions came away with a 6-3 win.Â

On the mound,
Hunter Parks got the start. He pitched five strong innings, giving up one run on five hits. He struck out three batters, walking just one.
Dosie Drakeford earned the win for the Lions, pitching two innings. He gave up two hits and struck out one batter.
Clifford Brown shut the door for Emmanuel, pitching two strong innings. He gave up two runs on two hits, striking out four batters and walking one.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow at 4PM when they host Anderson University.Â
