Lions Fall to Young Harris 21-15

Box Score Young Harris, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team took the show on the road today to face Young Harris College in Conference Carolinas play. The Lions got off to a quick start, leading 4-2 in the first period, but the Mountain Lions would answer back and control the pace of the game the rest of the way to win 21-15. With the loss, the Lions fall to 7-3 overall, 1-3 in conference. 
 
Young Harris got the scoring started early with a goal with 13:20 to play in the first to go up 1-0. The Lions would respond with a goal by Lauren Kuschel with 12:34 to play to tie things up at 1-1. Meghan Jennings gave the Lions a 2-1 lead with 11:11 to play assisted by Kristi Fisher. Young Harris responded a minute later to tie things up at 2-2. Paige Murphy would score her first of the day to make it 3-2 Lions with 9:32 to play in the period, and Kuschel followed that up with her second of the day to give the Lions a 4-2 lead with 6:58 to play in the period. The Mountain Lions would close out the period by scoring five goals in three minutes to go up 7-4 at the end of one.
 
In the second period, Young Harris continued their run, scoring five in a row to go up 12-4. Kuschel scored her third of the day with 7:31 to play in the second to make it 12-5, Mountain Lions. Young Harris would net the next two goals to go up 14-5, before Jennings scored with 5:51 to play in the period to make it 14-6. The Mountain Lions would score the next three goals to go up 17-6, before Murphy closed out the period scoring with :10 seconds to play to make it 17-7. 
 
The Lions would start the scoring in the third period with a goal by Jennings with 13:58 to play, to make it 17-8, Young Harris. Murphy would tack on another with 12:26 to go in the period, to cut the Young Harris lead to 17-9. The Mountain Lions would respond with a goal with 6:15 to play in the period to make it 18-9. Emmanuel would net the next two goals, one by Jennings with 4:22 to play and the next by Murphy, assisted by Fisher with 3:31 to go, to make it 18-11. Young Harris would close out the period with a goal to make it 19-11.
 
In the final period, Emmanuel got things started with a goal by Murphy, assisted by Fisher with 8:30 to play to cut the Mountain Lion lead to 19-12. Fisher got in on the action with 6:48 to play to bring the Lions within six, 19-13. Young Harris would score the next two to go up 21-13, but Murphy would respond with 4:42 to play to make it 21-14. With 2:43 to play in the game, Mikaela Austin found net, assisted by Murphy to make the final score 21-15.
 
Next up the Lions will travel to face North Greenville University on March 18 at 5PM.
