Box Score 3 Young Harris, GA – The Emmanuel Baseball team traveled to Young Harris, Ga tonight to take on the Mountain Lions in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a quick start in game one, but a six-run 5
thinning propelled the Mountain Lions to victory, 16-7. In game two the Lions fell 11-4, and the Mountain Lions completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in game three. With the loss, the Lions fall to 27-19 on the season, 15-12 in conference play.
GAME ONE –
The Lions got on the board in the first inning with a solo home-run by
Brock Wollin to left field to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Hayden Beall went yard in the 2
nd inning to make it 2-0, Lions early but Young Harris quickly answered with a homer of their own to cut the Lions lead to 2-1.
Jesus Cruz started off the 3
rd inning with a single. Wollin followed that up with a single to advance Cruz to 2
nd.
Brody Campbell walked to load the bases for
Nick Dietsch, who took advantage by hitting a double, scoring Wollin and Cruz to give the Lion a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 3
rd, the Mountain Lions scored 5 runs on 2 hits to take a 6-4 lead.
There was nothing going for either team until the bottom of the 6
th inning when Young Harris scored 6 runs on 3 hits to extend their lead to 12-4.
In the 7
th, Cruz reached with a walk and
Thomas Collins brought him home with a double to make it 12-5, Young Harris. Campbell singled to centerfield to score Collins, cutting the Mountain Lions lead to 12-6.
The Lions added a run in the 8
th inning.
Ryan Muniz started things off with a single. Cruz reached via walk and Collins singled up the middle to score Muniz, cutting the Youg Harris lead to 12-7. In the bottom of the 8
th, the Mountain Lions scored 4 runs on a hit and an error to make it 16-7, which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Brody Campbell was 2-3.
Barrett Barkley got the start on the mound. He gave up 5 runs on 2 hits in 2.0 innings pitched. He walked 4 batters and struck out 1.
Chase Lupton came in next, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up 6 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 5 batters.
Bubba Luke came in to face five batters, giving up a run.
Ashton Sapp came in next, pitching 2 innings and giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 1 hit.
Will Sherman closed out the game, facing one batter.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday for a doubleheader to close out the series.
GAME TWO –
The Lions got off to a fast start in game two.
Brock Wollin reached on a walk to get things started for the Lions.
Brody Campbell followed that up with a double to left to score Wollin and give the Lions a 1-0 lead after the first.
The Lions bats stayed hot in the 2
nd.
Hayden Beall singled to start the inning.
Ryan Muniz followed that up with a single to advance Beall to 2
nd.
Bailey Stroud was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Beall scored on a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0, Lions.
Thomas Collins took advantage of the opportunity with a double to right to score Stroud and Muniz and make it 4-0, Lions. In the bottom of the 2
nd, the Mountain Lions got on the board scoring six runs on three hits and an error to take a 6-4 lead.
The Mountain Lions added to their lead in the bottom of the 4
th, scoring two runs on three hits to make it 8-4.
In the bottom of the 6
th, Young Harris scored three runs on two hits to take an 11-4 lead, which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Hayden Beall was 2-3.
On the mound,
Hunter Pirkle got the start going 1.2 innings. He gave up 6 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, striking out a batter and walking another.
Noah Cantleberry relieved him and pitched the rest of the way. He gave up five runs on five hits and struck out five batters.
GAME THREE
Young Harris got on the board first in game three.
It was a pitcher's duel to start, with nothing going for either team until the 4th inning when the Mountain Lions scored three runs on four hits to take a 3-0 lead.
The Lions answered back in the 6
th.
Jesus Cruz got things going with a walk.
Thomas Collins singled to put runners on first and second with two outs.
Brock Wollin took advantage, hitting a double to left to score Cruz and make it 3-1, Mountain Lions.
Brody Campbell kept things going for the Lions with a double to left center to score Wollin and Collins and tie things up at 3-3. The Mountain Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring a run on two hits to take the lead back, 4-3.
The Lions grabbed the momentum back in the top of the 8
th.
Bailey Stroud singled to short to start the inning. Collins walked to put runners on 1
st and 2
nd. Campbell reached on an error by the first baseman, scoring Stroud to tie things up at 4-4. The Mountain Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs on a hit and an error to make the final score 6-4.
At the plate,
Brody Campbell and
Bailey Stroud each tallied two hits.
On the mound,
Ethan Pooler got the nod going 5 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2.
Dosie Drakeford came in next, pitching 2.0 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 2 batters, walking 2 others.
Simon Boggie closed out the game for the Lions, pitching 1 inning and giving up 2 runs on a hit. He walked two batters.
