Box Score DUNCAN, SC – The Emmanuel Softball team took to the field today against Erskine College in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The two teams battled for the first few innings, but Emmanuel used a two-run fifth inning to pull away and take a 7-2 win! With the win, the Lions move to 30-22 on the season and will face Young Harris tonight at 7PM.
Jaryn Gibson got things started for the Lions in the top of the 2
nd with a double to right center.
Kelley Feigen followed that up with a single to move Ciarra Passmore (pinch runner) to third. Passmore scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Gabby Buffington walked, and the runners advanced on a wild pitch with Feigen scoring on a pop fly to make it 2-0, Lions.
The Flying Fleet tied things up in the top of the 4
th, scoring two runs on two hits to make it 2-2. The Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Isabel Harrison tripled to get things going for the Lions and Buffington hit one out of the park to give the Lions a 4-2 lead.
The Lions added to their lead in the bottom of the 5
th.
Ellee Varner singled to third to start things off and Conference Player of the Year,
Alyssa Adams doubled to center to score her, giving the Lions a 5-2 lead. Gibson hit a double of her own to score pinch runner,
Shelby Aiken and make it 6-2.
In the bottom of the 6
h, the Lions picked up where they left off. Harrison walked to start the inning, advancing to 2
nd on a passed ball. Harrison advanced to third on a ground out, scoring on a single by
Aggie Bennett to make the final score 7-2, Lions.

Jaryn Gibson was 2-2 with an RBI.
On the mound,
Maddie Edwards got the start pitching 6 innings. She gave up two runs on eight hits and struck out nine batters.
