Lions Beat Barton 20-17

Box Score Wilson, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Wilson, NC to play Barton College in Conference Carolinas action. The game was back and forth with several ties and lead changes, but the Lions would finish on a 4-1 run to bring home a 20-17 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 12-4 on the season and 5-3 in conference play. 
 
Barton got things started in the first period with a goal to go up 1-0. The Lions responded with a goal of their own from Kristie Fisher with 10:11 to play in the first to tie things up at 1-1. Lauren Kuschel gave the Lions the lead at 9:27, making it  2-1. The Bulldogs scored to tie things up again at 2 apiece, but the Lions would answer back with a goal from Paige Murphy with 4:26 to go in the period to give the Lions a 3-2 advantage. Fisher added her second goal of the game, assisted by Kuschel with 3:35 to go in the period to make it 4-2, Lions. Barton would score with 2:23 to play to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Lions would respond with a goal from Murphy with 2:06 to play to go up 5-3. Barton added another goal to get within a point, 5-4 but Mikaela Austin closed out the period with a goal at the 8 second mark to give the Lions a 6-4 lead heading into the 2nd.
 
Barton scored the first two goals of the 2nd period to make it 6-6. Murphy tacked on a goal with 10:34 to play in the period to take the lead back for the Lions, 7-6. She scored again 30 seconds later to make it 8-6, Lions. Barton cut the Lions lead to one, with a goal to make it 8-7 but the Lions would score the next two. Fisher scored with 4:22 to play to make it 9-7 and then Murphy tacked on another goal to go up 10-7. The Bulldogs would go on a 3-0 run to close out the period tied at 10-10. 
 
In the third, Barton took the lead by scoring two in a row to make it 12-10, Bulldogs. The Lions responded with a 3-0 run. Fisher scored with 12:01 to play to make it 12-11, Barton. Meghan Jennings tied things up at 12, assisted by Kuschel with 9:24 to play in the 3rd. Fisher scored once more with 5:20 to go to make it 13-12, Lions. The Bulldogs closed out the period with a goal with 5 seconds to play to make it 13-13. 
 
Barton tied things up at 14  to start the 4th period. Murphy answered back with a goal at 11:53 to make it 15-14, Lions. Barton responded to tie things up at 15, then Jennings answered back to take a 16-15 lead with 9:36 to play. Barton tied things up at 16, then Murphy responded with a goal with 7:19 to go to give the Lions a 17-16 lead. The Lions would go on a 4-1 run to pull away. Jennings added a goal with 3:40 to play to make it 18-16, then Demi Czynski made it 19-16 with 2:21 to play, assisted by Fisher. Kuschel scored to make it 20-16 with 2:00 to play, and the Bulldogs got a goal back with 1:19 to go to make the final score 20-17, Emmanuel.
