Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team hosted Shorter University tonight in conference action. The Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half and added to their lead in the 2
nd half to take the 5-1 victory. With the win, the Lions move to 5-6-3 overall, 5-4-2 in conference play.
Jillian Aldrich got things started early for the Lions with a goal at 3:45 to make it 1-0 Emmanuel.
Jimena Rivera added to the Lions lead at 21:07 with a goal assisted by Aldrich to push the Lions lead to 2-0. The Lions outshot the Hawks, 15-1 in the half with 10 shots within the frame. At the break, the Lions led 2-0.
Aldrich found the net again early in the 2
nd half, assisted by
Brianna Nguyen to make it 3-0 Lions at the 57:36 mark. A score by
Jordan Bruck at 72:08, assisted by
Veronica Calixto gave the Lions a 4-0 lead. Late in the 2
nd half, the Hawks got on the board via penalty kick to cut the Lions lead to 4-1. With nine seconds left to play in the game,
Eva Stawicki found the net to make it 5-1, Lions assisted by
Ires Tania. In the half, the Lions outshot the Hawks, 7-2 with 3 in frame.
Ana Ramirez-Cortez ended the matchup with 2 saves.
Next up the Lions will host King University for Senior Day on Saturday at 4:30PM.
