Box Score Dahlonega, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team continued play in the Gold City Classic with a rematch against Emory & Henry. The Wasps got off to a strong start, scoring 4 runs in the first three innings. The Lions responded well, but a 4-run 6th inning for the Wasps put the game away, giving the Wasps a 12-6 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-7 on the season. 

The Wasps jumped out to an early lead scoring a run on 2 hits and an error in the top of the 1st. The Lions responded well in the bottom half of the inning. Ellee Varner walked to start the inning, advancing to 3rd on a wild pitch. Arlie Gooden walked to score Varner to tie things at 1-1.

In the top of the 2nd, the Wasps responded with a run on 2 hits to make it 2-1. 

The Wasps continued to work in the top of the 3rd with 2 runs on 3 hits to make it 4-1. 

In the top of the 4th, the Wasps scored one run on 3 hits to push their lead to 5-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Gabby Buffington started things off with a single to left field. Carly Forrester reached on an error, advancing Buffington to 2nd. Vic Epps grounded out to the pitcher to advance the runners and Kelsey Lester doubled to right center to score Forrester and Buffington, cutting the Wasps lead to 5-3. 

In the top of the 6th, the Wasps answered back with 3 runs on 5 hits to go up 8-3. The Lions responded well in the bottom half of the inning. Jaryn Gibson reached first on an error and Forrester followed that up with a single to center field to advance the runner. Lester kept things going with a double to left center to score Gibson to make the score 8-4. Aggie Bennett followed that up by grounding out to score Forrester, cutting the Wasps lead to 8-5. 

The Wasps scored 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 7th to make it 12-5. The Lions responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Varner singled to the pitcher to start the inning, advancing to 2nd on a wild pitch. Gibson followed that up with a single to centerfield to score Varner to make the final score 12-6, Wasps. 
At the plate, Ellee Varner went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and Kelsey Lester went 2-3 with 3 RBI's.

On the mound, Carly Forrester got the start going 3.0 innings. She gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and walked 1 base runner. Reagan Garrett relieved her to go 2.1 innings. She gave up 4 runs on 8 hits and walked 2 batters. Cassidy Jenkins closed out the game for the Lions, going 1.2 innings. She gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, walking one batter and striking out another. 

The Lions will be back in action at 5PM against host, University of North Georgia.
