Larry James To Be Inducted into Athens Athletic Hall of Fame!

We are thrilled to announce that Emmanuel Lion great, Larry James will be inducted posthumously into the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame.
Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of Judy James of Watkinsville, and the late Larry M. James Sr. Larry was a graduate of Athens Christian School and Emmanuel University where he stood out on the basketball court, breaking records at both schools. 

Larry played for the Lions from 1995-1999 under coach Jerry Boone. He was a 4-year starter for the Lions, earning All-American honors twice in his career. In 1998, Larry led the Lions to the NCCAA National Tournament where the team finished 2nd in the nation.  He currently is the all-time leading rebounder with 1,259 total rebounds. and 2nd all-time in scoring with 2,745 points. Additionally, James was a 4-time All-Conference honoree and the 1996 GAC Freshman of the Year. 

Larry had his jersey retired after the completion of his Emmanuel career in 1999 and was inducted to the Emmanuel University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015. 

ABOUT THE ATHENS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME 

Athens Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced and honored with a luncheon on June 8th, 2025. Tickets for this event will be $35.00 each. 
The Induction Ceremony & Banquet will be held Monday, June 9th at 6PM. Tickets will be $60.00 or $500 for a table of 8 and will be on sale online at athenshalloffame.com. 
Both events will be held at the Georgia Center (1197 Lumpkin St. Athens, GA 30602).
