Franklin Springs, GA- Emmanuel University Athletics is thrilled to welcome Ged O'Connor as Head Coach of the Women's Soccer program.

With a coaching career spanning 20+ years, O'Connor brings a wealth of experience to the Springs.

"We're excited to welcome Ged to the Emmanuel family," said Vice President for Athletics, Nate Moorman. "He is not only a great mission fit, but brings a passion for the game and a wealth of experience at the NCAA DI and DII levels."

O'Connor played at Webber State International University where he was the starting goalkeeper for the Warriors for four seasons and graduated in 1999. His coaching career kicked off in 2002 at Saint Leo University where he served as an assistant coach for four seasons.

In 2006, O'Connor was named the head coach of the Saint Leo program and led the Lions to the most successful season in program history (14-3-2), punching their ticket to their first ever NCAA DII Tournament appearance.

O'Connor served as the Lion's head coach until 2016 when he was named the Head Coach of the NCAA DI, Troy University Trojans.  He spent four seasons with the Trojans, leading the program to a record seven Sun Belt Conference victories in his third year at the helm.

In 2021, O'Connor returned to the Sunshine State for a second stint at Saint Leo where he served for four seasons before accepting the position to lead the Emmanuel Lions.

"I am excited to be Emmanuel and will work diligently with the team to continue the good work that has already taken place," O'Connor said. " I am excited to get on the field in August and work with the returning and incoming players. It is an exciting time to be a Lion, and we will work every day to bring more hardware to the Springs!"

The Lions are coming off a record-breaking season, earning their first Southwest Division Championship in program history. Watch the video below to find out how Coach O'Connor hopes to attack the season and move the program fiercely forward!
