Ingrid Martinez is a tennis player and student-athlete from Mexicali, Mexico. 
Half-way through her junior year in college, Ingrid looks back to talk about the time when she started playing tennis. “I started playing when I was a senior in high school," she explains, “however, I liked tennis since I was in middle school, right after my two best friends introduced me to it," adds Ingrid.
In addition to being a member of the women’s tennis team, she is pursuing a career in Business Administration and a minor in Communication. When asked about the challenges of combining education and collegiate sports, Ingrid shared that time management and proper goal setting are two skills that all student-athletes need to be familiar with to succeed.
However, Ingrid believes that the pros of this experience outweigh the cons. “I love to call myself an EC student-athlete," she explains, “I enjoy the fact that I get to represent my school in everything that I do.”
Besides, she is very grateful for being led by a coach that is not only helping her grow but also serves as her role model in life. 
After her graduation in May 2022, Ingrid would like to move to San Diego to be near her family and get into pastry school to achieve her dream of becoming a pastry chef.
