Box Score Emmanuel College Sports Information - Ellie Chapman
The Emmanuel College Women's Soccer team has had another tough loss on the road, after losing to Shorter College 2-0 on Tuesday evening. Emmanuel played well and even dominated the play for several stretches of the game but was unable to really challenge Shorter in their attacking third, managing just 5 shots to Shorter's 15. The first goal for Shorter was a judgment call that came in the 6th minute, as the ball ricocheted off the cross bar onto the turf to be collected by goal keeper Marina Eisenhut, only for the referee to signal that the ball had in fact crossed the goal line. Eisenhut played out the rest of the first half for Emmanuel and collected 5 saves including a rocket free kick shot from Shorter's Tabea Kirchner, in the 16th minute.
Emmanuel looked more settled in the second half and had some good combination play through the midfield. Sophomore Noel Samples had a few decent shots on goal but on the whole Emmanuel struggled to hold the ball up their attacking end, with Shorter managing to slip another goal past the Lions in the 76th minute. Breanna Grizzle played the second half in goals for the Lions collecting 2 saves. The Lions head out on the road again Thursday as they look to improve their 2-7 record when they take on North Greenville College at 5pm, and then return home to play Barton College at home on Saturday October 11th at 5pm.
