Lady Lions Win In Final Minutes vs. Fighting Koalas

Columbia, SC: Emmanuel College came out on top in a thrilling 13-12 victory at Columbia College Wednesday night. The Lady Lions are now 3-6 overall (1-5 CC) while Columbia found only their third loss of the season, becoming 5-3.

The Fighting Koalas came out with two goals in the first few minutes, controlling the pace right off the draw. Freshman center Tara Larson (Loxahatchee, FL) rose to the challenge as she ended the night with the team's most draw controls with five to get the ball up field. The Lions offense found their rhythm with two unanswered goals by freshman Lara Russell (Buford, GA), each assisted by teammates Tyler Rediger (Hoschton, GA) and Haley Larson (Loxahatchee, FL).

The Lions found themselves winning at the half 8-7 and started the second half with an assist by Russell to T. Larson. Through the entirety of the game, the deficit was never more than two goals as Columbia and Emmanuel fought for possession. Tied 12-12 and with only two minutes left in the game, the Lions were able to get the final shot to fall to ultimately win. Junior Megan Hart (Acworth, GA) found Russell open in the 8-meter for the assist and winning goal. Russell finished with an astounding and career high 10 points as she recorded 7 assists and 3 goals for the Lions.

The Lady Lions will travel to North Carolina on Saturday March 21 where they will face the Brevard College Tornados as 12:00 PM.
