Lions Finish 2-1 In Belmont Abbey Series

BELMONT, N.C. - Emmanuel Baseball split the final two games of their series with Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon.

Game #1

The Lions had 6 hits, 2 RBI's and drew 2 walks. Justin Henle, Brody Campbell and Royce Peterson each had 1 single while Jorge Villalabos had 3 singles and 2 RBI's.

Jake Denham struck out 5 of the 27 batters he faced, while allowing 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.

The Lions got on the board in the fourth inning. Brody Campbell was walked before being advanced to second on a single from Royce Peterson. Villalabos would follow with a single to center field to bring Campbell home. In the top of the sixth, Kyle Gaura was walked. Quinn Tomasino would then reach first on a fielding error, advancing Gaura to second. Villalabos would have his second RBI of the game with a single to right field, brining Gaura home. Belmont Abbey was unable to score resulting in a 2-0 win for EC.

Game #2

EC recorded 5 hits and drew 1 walk in their scoreless loss to the Crusaders. Demetrius Foster, Quinn Tomasino and Brody Campbell all had a single. Luke Patty batted one single and one double. 

Tyler Robinson, Thomas Rutherford, Ben Hudson and Trey Campbell all split the mound for the Lions.

Next up, the Lions travel to Shorter on Tuesday, February 18th.
