Baseball Edged Out By Shorter, 8-7

ROME, GA. - The Emmanuel College baseball team was narrowly defeated by Shorter University, 8-7 on Monday afternoon.

EC recorded 13 hits, 6 RBI's, 7 runs, and drew 2 walks in their 8-7 loss. Clayton Jones recorded the Lions third homerun of the season, Kyle Gaura had his first triple of the season, and Justin Henle, Luke Patty, and Jorge Villalabos each hit doubles. In addition to his homer, Jones notched 2 singles along with Brody Cambell. Demetrius Foster, Patty, Gaura and Villalabos each recorded a single as well.

Eli Torso pitched 3 innings for the Lions, recording 1 strikeout and allowing 5 hits against 16 batters.

After the Hawks grabbed a two run lead in the first inning, the Lions rallied with five hits to score 4 runs and steal the lead. As each team continued to bring in runners, the Lions held the lead until the bottom of the 8th inning when Shorter brought in two runners to tie it up. EC was unable to score in the 9th, and the Hawks had a final walk off hit to take the game, 8-7.

Next up, the Lions continue conference play against Southern Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday at home.
