Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team fell to conference opponent North Greenville University 22-7 on Friday afternoon. This loss brings the Lions record to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in conference.
FIRST HALF
North Greenville opened up the game with the first goal before Emmanuel's Justine Dorelas responded with a goal from a free position shot to tie the score 1-1. The Crusaders would follow up with 11 straight points before the half ended. With 8 seconds left on the clock, Hannah Hernandez put in one last goal for the Lions as they headed into halftime trailing 12-2.
SECOND HALF
Facing a hefty deficit, the Lady Lions attacked early in the second half with three straight goals. Dorelas would score her 2nd goal of the night off of an assist from Kori Payne. Payne would follow with back to back goals. Another NGU goal would come before the Lions fired in two more shots despite being man-down. Kelbie Williams captured the first goal and Dorelas followed with her 3rd to cut the Cruasders lead to 13-7. Despite the strong start, the Lions were unable to come back as NGU pocketed 9 more goals before the finish.
Justine Dorelas led the Lions with 3 goals. Tiana Machado recorded 17 saves on 39 shots.
Next up, the Lions host Florida Tech on Sunday, March 1st at 12pm.
