Baseball Defeats Anderson, 8-5

ANDERSON, S.C. - Emmanuel Baseball defeated the Anderson University Trojans in their first away game of the season on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning. Anderson's Vella doubled to left field before Carpenter brought him home with his single, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead. EC quickly responded in the next inning. After Gaura walked to first, Tomasino would swipe a ball down the right field line to bring Gaura home. Tomasino would then steal third before Hunter Reeves brought him home with a sac fly to left field, giving EC a 2-1 lead. 

The Lions carried the momentum into the next inning when LaCross homered into left field in EC's first at bat. Royce Peterson singled to left field next before Patty's double advanced him to third. Peterson would score one more run for EC before the end of the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Henle doubled down the right field line before advancing to third base on a wild pitch. Another sac fly from Reeves brought Henle in. A couple Trojan errors allowed EC one more run in the inning, bringing the score to 6-1. In the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans brought in one runner to reduce the EC lead.

The final runs for EC came in the seventh inning. Gaura walked before advancing to third on Tomasino's double. A sac fly from Henle brought Gaura home. Campbell singled to center field next, bringing Tomasino in, 8-2 EC.

Despite Anderson putting up 3 unanswered runs at the end of the game, EC took the victory 8-5.
