Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team fell to Newberry College, 22-9 on Tuesday afternoon.
FIRST HALF
The Wolves grabbed a quick 3-0 lead five minutes into the game. Despite trailing by three, the Lions fought all the way back to a tied score of 6-6. Justine Dorelas had the first two goals for EC before Hannah Hernandez drove a goal in. Dorelas would then score two more times to get within one point of the Wolves. Less than a minute later, Hernandez connected off of a free position shot to tie the game at 6-6. Newberry would finish off the half with 4 more goals while the Lions added 2 more goals from Dorelas and Hernandez. EC trailed 10-8 at halftime.
SECOND HALF
Newberry extended their lead to 11-8 with the first goal of the second half. The Lions would respond with Dorelas' 6th goal of the game. Despite getting within 2 points of the Wolves, EC was unable to score in the remaining 25 minutes of play as Newberry garnered another 11 goals to take the game 22-9.
Goalkeeper Tiana Machado recorded 8 saves.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Quincy University on Saturday, February 14th.
