Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team fell to conference opponent Lees-McRae University 19-9 on Wednesday afternoon. This loss brings the Lions record to 0-4 overall, 0-2 in conference.
The Lady Lions exchanged points early on with the Bobcats and found themselves trailing by just 1 goal, 6-5. Hannah Hernandez pocketed three goals for the Lions in their strongest start of the season. Despite the strong start, the Bobcats began to break away with a four point run. EC scored 4 more goals in the period, but the Bobcats cruised to a 12-4 lead before the end of the half.
Lees-McRae commanded the second half with 7 straight goals. Kori Payne got the sole second half goal for the Lions with four minutes left on the clock.
Lees-McRae outshot the Lions 36 to 22 and had 23 groundballs compared to only 11 from EC.
Hanna Hernandez led the Lions with 4 goals. Tiana Machado recorded 8 saves.
Next up, women's lacrosse will take on Montevallo on Friday, March 6th at 4pm.
