COLUMBIA, SC - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, to compete in the 2022 Carolina Challenge on January 21^st and 22^nd. The meet was hosted by the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Several Lions recorded impressive showings in the strong field. 
 
Track
The highlight of the weekend was Sulaimane Bangura, senior, who finished 2^nd overall in the Men's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 47.63, the fastest time recorded among Division II competitors. Bangura also finished 29^th in the Men's 200 Meter Dash, recording a 22.31 finish. 
Jharna Alston, senior, finished 17^th with a 25.08 finish in the Women's 200 Meter Dash. 
 
Field
Another highlight of the weekend was Jason Burke, junior, finishing 3^rd in the Men's High Jump, recording a jump of 1.95 meters. Burke finished first among Division II competitors. 
Madelyn Bright, junior, finished 11^th in the Women's High Jump, recording a jump of 1.50 meters. 
Moena Battle competed in the Women's High Jump Invitations and recorded a No-Height. 
 
The Track and Field teams will finish their indoor season when they travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the KMS Invitational.
