Track & Field Continues Indoor Season at KMS Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams continued their indoor season by traveling to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the KMS Invitational. No team scores were tallied, but myriad Lions shined individually. 

Moena Battle, senior,  finished first among competitors in the Women's High Jump, recording a 1.65 meter jump. 

Madelyn Bright, junior, finished 13th among competitors in the Women's Long Jump, recording a 4.96 meter jump. Bright also competed in the Women's 400 Meter Dash, recording a 1:05.32 to finish 23rd overall. 

Jason Burke, junior, finished second overall in the Men's High Jump, recording a 1.95 meter jump. Burke tied for first in the event, matching the best height achieved by any competitor. However, Burke finished second after a jump off. 

Kevin Wood, sophomore, finished 4th overall in the Men's Triple Jump with a distance of 13.26 meters. 

Jharna Alston, senior, finished second among runners in the Women's 60 Meter Dash with a 7.65 finish. Alston was first finisher among attached collegiate competitors.

Riley Triplett, freshman, finished 9th among runners in the Women's 1 Mile Run, recording a time of 5:58.37. In the same event, Sofiia Briansteva, freshman, finished 29th with a time of 6:31.87. 

Felipe Barrios, freshman, finished 5th overall among runners in the Men's 1 Mile Run with an official time of 4:25.47. In the same event, Alexander Andrade-Sosa, sophomore, finished 11th with a time of 4:32.49. Jordan Robertson, freshman, finished the event 17th overall, recording a 4:43.61. 

Josiah Campbell, senior, finished the Men's 400 Meter Dash in 9th, recording a time of 51.00. 

Ethan Hargrove, senior, finished the Men's 800 Meter in 4th, recording a 1:57.40 finish. Griffin Stephens also competed in the event, finishing 18th with a time of 2:08.52. 

Blake Walker, sophomore, finished 11th overall in the Men's 200 Meter Dash with an official time of 22.52. Jaylin Holiday finished the event 21st among competitors with a 23.10 finish. 

Paola Rubio, freshman, finished 12th in the Women's 3000 Meter Run with an official time of 11:57.72. In the same event, Carolina Asberg, freshman, finished 14th with an official time of 12:11.44. 

The teams hope to follow this strong showing as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to compete at the Camel City Invitational February 4-5.
