Box Score Wilson, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team traveled to Wilson, NC this afternoon to face Barton College in conference action. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, taking a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. The Bulldogs answered, closing out the first half of play outscoring the Lions 19-6 in the second quarter to lead 19-12 at halftime. The Lions scored a touchdown in the 3
rd quarter to cut the Bulldogs lead to a point, 19-18. Both teams scored a touchdown in the 4
th quarter, but the Bulldogs picked up the extra point. The Lions fell by two points, 26-24.
Lillian Stephenson was 31-53 on the afternoon for 362 yards and 4 passing touchdowns. She threw 2 interceptions in the game.
Gwen Carter was the Lions leading receiver with 8 catches for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Gianna Brown added 8 receptions for 92 yards and 2 scores.
Defensively, Kylie Warren-Young led the team with 8 solo flag pulls. She also picked off Barton quarterback, Sawyer Rigdon twice.
Gwen Carter had 7 flag pulls on the afternoon.
Jamiese Spivey and
Gianna Brown also picked off Rigdon, with Spivey, Carter,
Sydne Stoker and
DaMoijah Flowers breaking up passes.
The Lions will be back in action on April 11 as they host Wingate University in conference action.
