Box Score MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN – The Emmanuel Women's Flag Football team traveled to Milligan College, TN to face #6 ranked Milligan College in non-conference play. The Buffaloes scored early in the first, but the Lions responded well with a 2 play, 66-yard drive to get on the board. Milligan would control the pace of the game the rest of the way to earn the 37-7 victory.
The Buffaloes took the lead with 8:20 to play in the 1
st quarter and added to their lead five minutes later to go up 13-0. The Lions answered with 2:30 left in the 1
st quarter with a 66-yard touchdown from
Lillian Stephenson to
Gwen Carter. After the 1-point conversion was successful, the Lions trailed 13-7. Milligan closed out the first quarter with a touchdown to take a 19-7 lead.
After a scoreless 2
nd quarter, Milligan took control, with two touchdowns in the 3
rd quarter to go up 31-7.
In the fourth, the Buffaloes tacked on a touchdown to make the final score 37-7,
Lillian Stephenson completed 21-42 passes on the afternoon for 249 yards and a touchdown. She threw two interceptions.
Stephenson was the team's leading rusher on the day with 4 carries for 20 yards and a long of 13.
Gwen Carter led the way receiving, with 5 receptions for 132 yards and a score.
Gianna Brown added 56 yards on 6 receptions.
On the defensive side, Kylie Warren-Young collected 9 flag-pulls with
DaMoijah Flowers adding 7 and 4 sacks for 18 yards and 6 flag pulls for loss.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they host Florida Gateway and Mars Hill at 1 & 4PM.
