Sami joined the Lions as a Freshmen in the Fall 2024 season. 

During Sami's 2024 career she appeared in all 31 matches, playing in 107 sets. Sami averages 5.38 assist per set. She collected 41 service aces on the season, including a season high of 4 against Southern Wesleyan University. She also had two double-doubles on the season. 

During her high school/club career she played on varsity all four years at Hickory High School, in Hickory, North Carolina. While there she was named to the All-Conference team three times, the All-Tournment team twice, and the Offensive Player of the Year once. Sami was also awarded the Scholar Athlete award three time. Along with these awards, she was named the MVP her senior year and received the Senior GPA award. She was also named the Female Athlete of the Year her senior year. During Sami's volleyball career she also played travel volleyball for eight years for Carolina Select. While there, she was named to the JVA National Watchlist and the AVCA National Watchlist twice. 

Sami is the daughter of Greg and Paula Gambill. She was born January 11, 2006. Sami has two sisters, Alli and Emmi; Alli her older sister played volleyball at Barton College. She will be majoring in English with a minor in writing. Sami's favorite Bible Verse is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, He gave his only son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
