Marusa joins the Lions as a Freshmen in the Fall 2025 season from Maribor, Slovenia.

Appeared in all 32 matches, playing in 121 sets. Maruša lead the Lions in a 5-1 offense accumulating 1,185 total assister (9.79 assist/set), which lead the Conference and was 35th in NCAA D2 volleyball. She had a career high of 51 assist at Barton. She also had 70 kills, 42 aces, and 46 blocks on the year. Maruša picked up 363 digs on the year averaging 3.00 digs/set. She had 18 double-doubles on the season.
During Marusa high school/club career she played with OTP Branik in Maribor, Slovenia. In 2024-2025 she was a part of the 3rd place in national U19 Championship and 1st place in second National Championship League. In 2023-2024, the team was 4th place in National U19 Championship, 2nd place in second National Championship League. Marusa played as a setter, middle, outside and opposite in her seven years of volleyball. She also played tennis, basketball, horseback riding and did dance.
Marusa is the daughter of Dejan and Melita Pesut. She was born November 23, 2006. Her father is a tennis coach and her mother is a librarian. She has one sibling Irina who also plays tennis. Marusa is the first in her family to study outside of her home country. Marusa is majoring in Sports Management.
