Box Score Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Tigerville, SC tonight to take on North Greenville University in Conference play. The Lions got on the board first and controlled the first period of play, but the Crusaders responded in the second to take control of the game and ultimately get the win, 23-11. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-1 in conference.
The Lions got on the board first with a goal by
Luke Hildebrandt, assisted by
Kyle Lloyd with 8:28 to play in the first period to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. North Greenville responded with a goal to tie things at 1-1 with 7 minutes left in the period. The Lions would go onto score the next three goals.
Tanner Park netted a goal with 6:27 to play in the period, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 2-1Lions.
Jared Weiss scored with 3:42 to play in the period, assisted by Hildebrandt, to make it 3-1, Emmanuel, then Hildebrandt netted his second goal of the afternoon to give the Lions a 4-1 advantage. The Crusaders closed out the period with a goal to make it 4-2, Lions after one.
In the second period, the Crusaders found their stride, scoring the first four goals of the period to go up 6-4. Emmanuel answered back with a goal of their own, scored by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to make it 6-5, Crusaders. The Crusaders would go up 7-5 with 5:07 to play in the period, but the Lions would respond with another goal by Gibson-Thomas to make it 7-6. The Crusaders would score the next three goals to pull away, 10-6, but
Ryley Dowswell responded with a goal with 1:16 to play in the period, assisted by
Tanner Park to make it 10-7. NGU closed the period out with a goal to go up 11-7 after two.
In the third period, the Crusaders scored the first two goals to go up 13-7.
Luke Hildebrandt would net his third of the afternoon with 11:13 to play in the third period to make it 13-8. The Crusaders would go on a 4-0 run to make it 17-8, before
Ryland Laturell found the net for the Lions with 3:20 to play in the period to make it 17-9.NGU closed out the period with two more goals to make it 19-9 heading to the fourth period.
In the fourth, the Crusaders scored the first two goals of the period to go up 21-9.
Ernest Hursey was the next Lion to score with 10:21 to play to make it 21-10. The Crusaders would net the next two to make the score 23-10, but Gibson Thomas answered back with a goal with 3:32 to play to make it 23-11. The Crusaders would close of the game with a goal to make the final score 24-11.
Griffin Gibson Thomas and
Luke Hildebrandt each had three goals on the night with Hildebrandt leading the team with two assists.
