Box Score Hartsville, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Hartsville, SC tonight to face Coker University in regional action. The Lions struck first, taking an early 2-0 lead but the Cobras answered, outscoring the Lions 6-2 in both the first and second periods to take a 12-4 lead into the half. The second half of play was a more defensive battle, with the Cobras earning the 18-8 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-4 on the season,
Cole Stachniak opened up the scoring for the Lions, with two goals in the 13
th minute of the 1
st period, one assisted by
Everett Muratori to give the Lions the early 2-0 lead. Coker responded quickly, ending the period on a 6-0 run to make it 6-2 heading into the 2
nd.
The Cobras scored the first two goals in the 2
nd period, making the score 8-2. The Lions responded with a goal by
Erik Lichtner, assisted by Stachniak to make it 8-3 with 6:17 to play before the break. Coker scored the next two to go. Up 10-3, but
Everett Muratori scored with 4:35 to play before the half to cut the Coker lead to 10-4. The Cobras closed out the period with two goals to push their lead to 12-4.
The Cobras carried their momentum into the 2
nd half, scoring the first two goals of the period to go up 14-4.
Ryland Laturell got into the action with a goal at the 6:02 mark in the 3
rd, assisted by Lichtner to make it 14-5. Laturell found the net again with 3:40 to play in the 3
rd to cut the Coker lead to 14-6, but the Cobras answered with a goal to make the score 15-6 heading into the final period.
In the fourth, the Cobras scored the first two goals of the period to go up 17-6. Stacniak scored his third of the game, assisted by Laturell to make it 17-7, The Cobras answered to go up 18-7, but
Ryley Dowswell closed the game out with a goal, assisted by
Grady Magruder to make the final score 18-8.
Cole Stachniak led the Lions with 3 goals on the night, with
Ryland Laturell adding 2. Five Lions ended the night with an assist.
Nick Pilon ended the night with 29 saves in goal.
