Box Score Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted the William Jewell College Cardinals in non-conference play. The Cardinals took control early in the first period, outscoring the Lions 5-1. The Cardinals took a 7-3 lead into the break and withstood a late run from the Lions to take home the win, 15-8. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-2 on the season.
The Cardinals scored the first 5 goals of the game to take a 5-0 lead late in the first period. A goal from
Ryley Dowswell, assisted by
Tristen Cuda with 0.2 seconds to play in the period got the Lions on the board to make it 5-1, Cardinals heading into the 2
nd period,
The Lions scored the first two goals in the 2
nd period, with
Everett Muratori finding the net first with 11:46 to play in the 2
nd, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to make it 5-2. Dowswell scored his second goal of the night at the 9:32 mark in the 2
nd period to cut the Cardinals lead to 5-3. The Cardinals answered back with two goals to head into the half leading 7-3.
Dowswell scored his third of the night to start off the third period, making it 7-4 Cardinals with 13:35 to play in the period. William Jewell scored the next two to push their lead to 9-4, but Dowswell continued to shine with a goal at the 8:26 mark, assisted by Laturell to make it 9-5 Cardinals.
In the final period of play, the Cardinals came on strong to score the first four goals, pushing their lead to 15-5. The Lions responded well however, with three consecutive goals to close out the game. Dowswell scored his 5
th of the night with 1:55 to play in the game, with
Everett Muratori finding the night twice in the final minute and half, each assisted by Laturell to make the final score 15-8, Cardinals.
