Box Score Young Harris, Ga – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Young Harris, GA tonight to take on the Young Harris College Mountain Lions in conference action, The Mountain Lions took an early lead, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage early, but the Lions answered to take a 9-7 lead heading into halftime. The Mountain Lions responded well in the second half, taking the 14-13 lead with under five minutes to play in regulation. The Lions closed out the game strong, scoring the final three goals to earn the 16-15 victory.
Young Harris jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the 1
st period, but the Lions responded well with a 5-0 scoring run to end the 1
st period.
Everett Muratori got the Lions on the board with 9:26 to play in the 1
st, then
Devin Gardner found the net less than a minute later to cut the Mountain Lions lead to 4-2 with 8:46 to play in the 1
st. A minute later, Gardner scored his 2
nd goal of the night to make it 4-3, Young Harris and a goal by
Ryley Dowswell, assisted by
Braden Weeks tied the game at 4-4 with 4:45 to play in the period. With 4:19 to play in the period, Gardner scored his third goal in the 1
st period to put the Lions up 5-4 heading into the 2
nd.
The Lions continued their scoring run in the 2
nd period with a goal by
Ryland Laturell with 14:13 to go in the 2
nd to make it 6-4, Lions.
Erik Lichtner found the net with 13:51 to go to put the Lions up 7-4, but Young Harris answered to cut the Lions lead to 7-5 with 11:10 to play in the 2
nd. Gardner kept the hot hand, scoring the next two goals with one assisted by Muratori to give the Lions the 9-5 but the Mountain Lions closed out the period on a 2-0 run to cut the Lions lead to 9-7 heading into halftime.
The Mountain Lions opened the scoring in the 3
rd period to make it 9-8, Lions. The Lions scored the next two, with Laturell and Lichtner scoring to make it 11-8, Lions. Young Harris closed the third period on a 3-0 run to tie the game at 11-11.
The Lions opened the 4
th period on a scoring run, with Gardner (assisted by
Cole Stachniak) and Lichtner finding the net to push the Lions lead to 13-11, but Young Harris answered with a scoring run of their own to take the lead, 15-13 with 4:26 to play. The Lions closed the game on a 3-0 run in the final 2:09 of the game, with Lichtner and Muratori scoring to tie the game at 15-15.
Cole Stachniak scored the game winner with 43 seconds to play, assisted by Dowswell to give the Lions the 16-15 victory.
Devin Gardner led the Lions in scoring with 6 goals on the night.
Erik Lichtner ended the game with 4 goals. Six Lions ended the night with an assist.
Josh Williams led the team with 3 caused turnovers, with
Tristen Cuda picking up 6 ground balls.
