FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's Lacrosse team hosted Shorter University on Feb. 21.

The Lions put 12 goals up during the game, but fell to Shorter 18-12.

Four of the 12 goals came in the first quarter. With 9:58 remaining, Alex Stull made the first goal for the Lions with an assist from Brian Marter.

Lance Olson and Marter, with an assist from William Schlorf made the next two goals and tied the game 3-3. The rest of the quarter was back-and-forth with another goal from Shorter University and from Stull.

Shorter put up one more goal in the first with 1:05 remaining and finished 5-4.

The one goal for the Lions during the second was made by Justin Parker with an assist from Cam Free with 12:21 remaining. Shorter put up seven goals during the quarter, leading 12-5 going into the third.

Stull, unassisted, made the first goal in the third with 12:23 remaining. He was followed with goals from Parker, with an assist from Olson, and Marter unassisted. He also made another goal with an assist from Olson.

With the four goals from the Lions and the three from Shorter, the score was 15-9 going into the fourth.

One minute into the fourth, Shorter University made another goal and brought their lead to 16-9. The Lions then made three consecutive goals from Michael Balsamides, Parker unassisted, and another goal from Parker with an assist from Maurice Johnson.

After two more goals from Shorter, the Lions fell 18-12.

Luke Harris and Avery Lattimore both had time in the goal for the Lions. Harris ended with 10 saves while Lattimore had three.

The Lions won 18 of the 32 faceoffs, and had 45 ground balls, 20 turnovers and 44 shots.

Out of the 44 shots, Stull had 11, Marter had seven, Schlof and Parker both had six, Olson had five, Tyler Machado, Balsamides and Johnson all had two and Kylon Collins, Benjamin Bryant and Free all had one.

The next game for the Lions will be at Young Harris College on Feb. 25.
