Box Score DACULA, GA - The Emmanuel College men's lacrosse team fell to Newberry University, 19-8 on Tuesday afternoon. This loss brings the Lions record to 1-2 overall.
The Lions jumped to a 2-0 lead after Lance Olson and Matthew Mitchell each recorded goals in the opening 9 minutes of play. Despite their early lead, the Wolves responded with 8 straight goals to jump ahead. Newberry never looked back and cruised to a 19-8 win.
Matthew Mitchell led the Lions with 3 goals, Allan Velasquez, Timothy Manley Jr, Travis Brave Heart, Lance Olson, and Alex Stull each had 1 goal apiece.
Newberry held the better offensive position, outshooting the Lions 40-29. The Wolves also picked up 63 ground balls to EC's 42.
Ethan Brundage opened for the Lions and had 5 saves on 16 shots while allowing 11. Luke Harris took over in the second half for EC and recorded 7 saves on 15 shots, allowing 8 goals.
